It was on August 30th, at the Alberto Cavalcantti Hospital (formerly the Minas Gerais Sanatorium), in Belo Horizonte, that Father Eustáquio left this world to live with the Father. It is on the day of his Easter that the Church celebrates the memory of a Saint or Blessed, his entry into heaven, and therefore, today we remember the missionary of Health and Peace.
Throughout the day, the Sanctuary in Belo Horizonte will be open for visitation. From 7 am to 7 pm, the faithful can visit the Memorial, where the mortal remains of the Blessed One are located, and offer prayers at the Sanctuary, which is in the capital of Minas Gerais. All visitation is controlled by sanitary protocols due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A wide range of programming is being broadcast online through the Padre Eustáquio Channel. Priests, religious and lay people express their devotion to the Blessed One through prayers, rosaries, masses and testimonies of graces received.
At 7 PM there will be a Mass to conclude Father Eustáquio Day. It will be celebrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Belo Horizonte, Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo, who is also the president of the CNBB (National Conference of Brazilian Bishops). The celebration will be broadcast on the Padre Eustáquio Channel on YouTube and on TV Pai Eterno throughout Brazil.
If you are near the Sanctuary or a parish or community that celebrates Father Eustáquio, be sure to participate, but if you are far away, follow along with our virtual program.
