The Province of the Sacred Hearts in Brazil celebrated this month the opening of the Postulancy in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, marking the beginning of the formation process for four young men in the Congregation.
The opening Mass was presided over by the Provincial Superior of Brazil, Fr. Osvânio Humberto Mariano, ss.cc. On behalf of the other brothers, the Provincial warmly welcomed each of the young men. The new postulants are: Igor Dantas (Campo Grande, RJ), João Marcos (Antônio Martins, RN), Lucas Soares (Paracatu, MG) and Wesley Paulo (Capelinha, MG).
Accompanying the Provincial Superior were the formators, Fathers Edvaldo Carneiro, ss.cc, and Ricardo Gomes, ss.cc. The celebration also included the participation of Fathers Edmar Aparecido de Oliveira, ss.cc, Alexandre Campos Leite, ss.cc, and Vitor Henrique Borges, ss.cc, reinforcing the unity, commitment, and support of the religious community during the formative period.
The name chosen for the Postulancy was “Dom Luiz Mancilha Vilela, ss.cc.”, a tribute to the illustrious son of the Sacred Hearts who, as a priest in the 1970s, was a formator of the community, contributing significantly to the formation of the Congregation's postulants in the city of Pindamonhangaba. Dom Luiz was also Archbishop of Vitória between 2002 and 2018. His passing in 2022 not only reinforces the importance of this tribute but also highlights the grateful memory of Dom Luiz's pastoral work.
The event, marked by moments of reflection, prayer, joy, and fraternity, also represents an important milestone in the history of the Province of Brazil, which returns to Pindamonhangaba, reaffirming its commitment and significant presence in the region.
