By a majority vote among the brothers entitled to participate in the election, Father Osvânio Humberto Mariano, ss.cc. was re-elected Provincial Superior of Brazil and the Paraguay Region. The election took place on Wednesday night (22) during the XII Provincial Chapter, in Pindamonhangaba-SP.
Osvânio, 59 years old, is the son of Mrs. Terezinha and Mr. José Mariano (both deceased). The priest was born in Guimarânia-MG and became provincial in January 2021, during the XI Provincial Chapter also held in Pindamonhangaba-SP.
The vote on Wednesday was closely followed by the Superior General of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, Father Alberto Toutin, sscc. Alberto came from Rome to participate in the meeting along with the brothers gathered at the Sacred Hearts Inn and Spirituality Center in Pinda.
The Chapter that re-elected Fr. Osvânio began last Monday, the 20th, and will continue until tomorrow (24). In his first term as provincial, the priest visited the religious communities of the province and participated in several assemblies such as the Expanded General Council, which took place in September of this year in Indonesia.
