Meditation by Blessed Father Eustace: The Resurrection of Christ

From Notebook 27 of Father Eustáquio: He has risen and is no longer here. Only yesterday the Holy Church, shrouded in the black mantle of mourning, consternation, and sorrow, bitterly wept for the death of the Author of life. He stood up, girded himself with a towel, put water in a basin, and knelt at the feet of each of the apostles, beginning with the oldest. And, as soon as Saint Peter saw what Jesus intended, he stood up saying: “Never in my life will you wash my feet!“ But Jesus replied: ”If you do not wash me, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.“ And Saint Peter replied, startled: ”Not only my feet, but my whole body you must wash!“ But Jesus replied: “If someone has bathed, it is enough to wash.”
