With music composed by Jo\u00e3o Guilherme Ripper, libretto by Andr\u00e9 Cardoso, musical direction by Ligia Amadio and stage design by Ronaldo Zero, the production is inspired by the book \u201cCongonhas: From the Faith of Feliciano to the Genius of Aleijadinho\u201d by Domingos da Costa.<\/p>\n The opera stars tenor Matheus Pompeu as Feliciano and soprano Carla Caramujo as Merc\u00eas, a fictional character. The production highlights the rich cultural heritage of Minas Gerais through music, dance, and poetry, and features a cast of 150 artists, including five guest singers, choristers from the Minas Gerais Lyric Choir, dancers from the Pal\u00e1cio das Artes Dance Company, and 70 musicians from the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra.
