This procedure includes the collection and analysis of documents, writings, and testimonies that prove the exemplary living of Christian virtues by the candidate. Furthermore, it involves a meticulous investigation of miracles attributed to their intercession. On June 22, 1962, the Ecclesiastical Tribunal was established to handle the Diocesan Phase of the Process. On September 3, 1964, the analysis of the Blessed's writings was concluded, finding nothing to prevent the continuation of the investigation into his virtues. On August 23, 1966, the Diocesan Phase concluded, and shortly thereafter, in the same year, Father Alfredo Elfrink, SS.CC., took all the material, including numerous testimonies collected in various states of Brazil and in the Netherlands, to the Cause of Saints in Rome. Following the Second Vatican Council, there was a 12-year interruption in the canonization process while awaiting new guidelines. In 1982, Dom Jo\u00e3o de Resende Costa requested the reopening of the Canonization Process, which was officially resumed on March 19, 1983. On March 19, 1987, the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints in the Vatican approved the process, and Father Eust\u00e1quio was recognized as a saint. <\/span><b>Servant of God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On November 12, 1997, Father Angel Lucas, SS.CC., was appointed to conduct the analysis of a miracle that occurred in 1962: the cure of cancer, which occurred in 1962 through the intercession of Father Eust\u00e1quio, in favor of Father Gon\u00e7alo Bel\u00e9m. In 1998, the miracle process was completed and sent to Rome. On April 12, 2003, Pope Saint John Paul II recognized the heroic virtues of Father Eust\u00e1quio, bestowing upon him the title of <\/span><b>Venerable.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> With the technical and theological verification of the miracle, on June 15, 2006, the then Venerable Father Eust\u00e1quio van Lieshout, priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, was declared... <\/span><b>Blessed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Pope Benedict XVI.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-92d2fb7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"92d2fb7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Cause for the Canonization of Blessed Father Eustace Today<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f467445 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f467445\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, the Cause for the Canonization of Blessed Father Eustace continues its mission of deepening research into his life and work, gathering accounts of miracles, and spreading the testimony of the Missionary of Health and Peace everywhere. Father Andrzej Lukawski, ss.cc. (postulator general in Rome), and Father Vin\u00edcius Maciel, ss.cc. (vice-postulator in Belo Horizonte, Brazil) are responsible for the ongoing process. The Cause continues to analyze the miracles that have occurred since his Beatification on June 15, 2006, which meet the evaluative criteria of the Cause of Saints.
