While still taking necessary health precautions, many people participated in this year's Holy Week at the Sanctuary of Health and Peace. The Church of Father Eustáquio once again experienced moments of reflection, adoration, and prayer with faithful and devotees gathered around the Easter celebrations.
Since Saturday the 9th, when the community was already celebrating the Holy Mass of Palm Sunday with procession and blessing, hundreds of people gathered to pray. On Sunday, a veritable multitude attended the 10 am Mass, singing and praising God.
During the Easter Triduum, several moments moved the devotees who attended the church and those who followed along on the Padre Eustáquio Channel on YouTube (review hereOn Thursday, the Washing of the Feet ritual was performed with the presence of teachers, educators, students from the Padre Eustáquio Daycare Center, and catechists. The adoration, broadcast over the internet, reached the homes of hundreds of people.
On Friday, in addition to the Crown of the Seven Sorrows, the Stations of the Cross through the streets of the neighborhood brought together dozens of people. In the afternoon, the celebration of the Passion with the church full also moved those who participated, but the real expectation was for the return of the Passion Play by the young people of the Sacred Hearts Parish. Many of those who were in the church or watched from home were touched by the Gospel message conveyed during the play, which has already reached more than 3,000 views on the internet.
On Saturday, an old tradition of the Padre Eustáquio church was revived. About 100 people, working together, cleaned the church, preparing it well for the arrival of Easter. In the evening, the blessing of the New Fire at the Padre Eustáquio Marist College, the procession, and the Easter Vigil at the church also brought back the feeling of community united around the Easter of Christ.
Yesterday, the five Easter Masses concluded the return of in-person Holy Week. Those who were in church or participated virtually through the Padre Eustáquio Channel received the solemn blessing and now have the mission of bringing the Risen Christ to their brothers and sisters.
