Three new young people are welcomed into the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.

Last week, three young men were welcomed to begin the first stage of their formation, the Postulancy, a period of learning about and discerning their vocation that lasts about three years. Hygor Gabriel Alves Souza Silva, Jefferson de Freitas Ferreira dos Reis, and Kayque dos Santos Reverte received, from the provincial superior, the symbol that marks their entry into the Congregation.

On Thursday, February 16th, the provincial superior, Father Osvânio Mariano, ss.cc, went to the chapel of the St. Damien of Molokai postulancy in Belo Horizonte and performed the rite of entry for the new candidates to live religious life. The young men introduced themselves and shared how they learned about the institution. Then, Father Osvânio welcomed them with words of encouragement and vocational inspiration. Finally, Hygor, Jefferson, and Kayque received a cross, a symbol of the Sacred Hearts and of their entry into the Postulancy of the Congregation.

From now on, they will be living in the SSCC formation house on Rua Coronel José Benjamin, under the guidance of the formator priest: Fr. Silvano Dias de Ávila, ss.cc.

The new young men join Walisson Santos Souza, Antônio Carlos Silva, and Douglas Alves dos Santos, who are also in the postulancy (Walisson since 2020; Antônio Carlos and Douglas since the beginning of last year). They all spend a period of living with the brothers and sisters of the congregation, actively participating in religious activities and maturing in their decision to live in a community of brothers and sisters.
