The rector of the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Health and Peace, Father Vinícius Maciel, ss.cc., met this week with Lieutenant Carlos of the Military Police to discuss the safety of devotees during the Feast of Blessed Father Eustáquio this year. The idea is to ensure that everyone feels welcomed and safe to pray and pay homage to the Blessed.
The Minas Gerais Military Police, a significant presence, has been assisting the Church of Blessed Father Eustáquio for many years in holding its festivities in the safest and most peaceful way possible. This time was no different; Lieutenant Carlos, one of those responsible for policing the Sanctuary area, was at the church this week to coordinate the PM's work with the festival's program.
The Lieutenant was briefed on all the programming being put together, in addition to providing guidance to improve security during the organization of the festivities. According to him, besides the mobile police base that already reinforces daily policing in front of the Sanctuary, the idea is to have two patrol cars present at all times during the 30th, when there is a greater movement of devotees.
After two years of celebrating the festival in a more restricted way due to the pandemic, the Sanctuary will maintain caution in the return of activities, holding the traditional festival of the Blessed in a more internal setting. Therefore, there will be no outdoor stalls.
