The new board of directors for the "Ladies of Charity" was elected this week. The election took place at an Extraordinary General Assembly, presided over by Father Marcus Vinicius Maciel, ss.cc., Rector of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace.

The new president of the association is Mariza Campos Coutinho Vicópilos. She had been coordinating the work on a voluntary basis since the beginning of last year. The vice-president of the Ladies of Charity will now be Neuza Moreira Alves Pereira.

During the meeting, the Ladies' Fiscal Council was also formed, composed of Father Vinícius Maciel, Cláudia Santino Mafra Mattos, and Maura Santos Carvalho.

The "Ladies of Charity" Association was created in 1951 by Father Venâncio Hulselmans, ss.cc., with the aim of uniting Catholic ladies, on a voluntary basis, to provide moral, spiritual and material support to the poor and sick.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, several members were unable to participate in volunteer work due to social isolation. The assistance work carried out by the Ladies only continued thanks to the collaboration of young postulants, religious men and women, and sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.
