“"The 'Cultivating Dreams for Prates: Agenda 2030' Festival will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, between 9 am and 12 pm, at the Professor Morais State School, in Praça Tejo, Belo Horizonte. The event will discuss viable projects for the site of the current Carlos Prates Airport, which is scheduled to be decommissioned soon.".

The decommissioning of Carlos Prates Airport is scheduled for January 1, 2023, and with this in mind, the Center for Sociopolitical Studies at PUC Minas has created a movement to reflect on the importance of this area so that we can have an inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable city. The idea is to involve the entire community living in the surrounding area. Co-responsibility in the decision-making and implementation processes of public policies and urban projects is important to reaffirm what we want for the future of our region.

This event is an initiative of Casa Comum, the Center for Sociopolitical Studies, the Teaching, Extension and Research Group Production of Urban Space in Brazil, the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, and the Collective Affected by the Prates River and Trama Coletiva.

The festival has the support of the Professor Morais State School, the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Minas Gerais, and partners in its promotion such as the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Health and Peace, and the Church of Blessed Father Eustáquio.

The expectation is that parishioners and visitors to the Sanctuary, who live near the Airport, will participate in the festival and events that aim to reflect on the history of the region and the future use of the land where the Carlos Prates Airport now operates.

The festival program will be released soon by the organizers and here on the website.
