The Sanctuary decides to suspend some activities at the Sacred Hearts Parish in Belo Horizonte.

Aware of the reality of the risks of contamination by the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) and in line with the recommendations of our Metropolitan Archbishop, Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo, the Parish of the Sacred Hearts, in Belo Horizonte, decided in a meeting to take some actions regarding the activities maintained by the Health and Peace Sanctuary.

At the Parish Pastoral Council (CPP) meeting on March 13th (Friday), the matter was extensively discussed regarding the situation:

  1. The celebrations at the Santos Dumont Complex and the Dona Paula Home are suspended for 15 days starting on Sunday, March 15th;
  2. Catechism classes in preparation for First Communion and Confirmation, meetings for Missionary Childhood, Adolescence and Youth, and the Children's Choir are suspended until Easter Sunday;
  3. "Family Week" will only maintain the regular 7 PM Mass celebrations from Monday to Friday;
  4. The Mass Confession program has been suspended. Individual appointments will continue during the usual hours.
  5. Craft groups, the Bible Course, Pastoral groups and Movements, and other parish services should avoid larger group meetings and consider suspending their activities until Easter;

At the same time, we insist on paying attention to the previously communicated guidelines that serve the charitable purpose of preventing contamination during Eucharistic Celebrations:

  • Communion only in the hand.,
  • The Lord's Prayer without holding hands.,
  • The embrace of peace remains suspended.

We remain united in prayer for the sick and for the overcoming of these and so many other ills that afflict us.
