We have arrived at the most important liturgical moment in the Catholic Church, the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. This period, known as the Easter Triduum, extends from the afternoon of Holy Thursday until the evening of Holy Saturday.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the celebrations cannot take place in person, but they will be broadcast. here on our website and on the YouTube channel Padre Eustáquio.
This year, Thursday and Saturday masses will begin earlier, at 6 pm, due to the curfew in effect in Minas Gerais as a result of the "purple wave" decreed by the state with measures to combat Covid-19.
The Easter Triduum:
The Triduum begins with the celebration of the Passover Meal on Thursday evening, where we remember the great farewell, with the concrete gesture of the Washing of the Feet, which shows Jesus' willingness to serve humanity. The Eucharist is also celebrated on that day. Mass will begin at 6 PM.
On Good Friday, the death of Jesus is commemorated. On this day, the church does not celebrate the Eucharist, but there is an adoration of the Cross at 3 pm. At the Health and Peace Sanctuary, there will also be the Burial Sermon, broadcast at 6 pm.
On Saturday we have the Easter Vigil, where we celebrate Christ's victory over death. Death has been conquered, and the church commemorates this victory of Christ. The vigil concludes the Holy Week Triduum and will also be held at 6 PM.
