New young people are welcomed into the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.

New young people are welcomed into the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts.

This Sunday (April 11th), two new young men were welcomed to begin the first stage of their formation, the Postulancy, a period of learning and discerning their vocation that lasts about 3 years. Antônio Carlos Silva and Douglas Alves dos Santos arrived in Belo Horizonte at the beginning of the year and, now, at the hands of the provincial, received the symbol that marks their entry into the congregation.

Around 11:00 AM, the provincial superior, Father Osvânio Mariano, ss.cc, began the rite of entry for the new candidates to live religious life. The young men introduced themselves and shared how they learned about the institution. Father Osvânio then welcomed them with words of encouragement and vocational inspiration. Finally, Antônio Carlos and Douglas received a cross, a symbol of the Sacred Hearts and of their entry into the Postulancy of the Congregation.

Antônio Carlos Silva is from the city of Rio de Janeiro and Douglas Alves dos Santos is from Patrocínio, in the interior of Minas Gerais. From now on, they will live in the SSCC formation house on Rua Coronel José Benjamin, under the guidance of two formators: Fr. Silvano Ávila, sscc and Fr. Edmar Oliveira, sscc.

The new young men join Walisson Santos Souza, who has also been in the postulancy since the beginning of last year. They all spend a period of living with the brothers and sisters of the congregation, actively participating in religious activities and maturing in their decision to live in a community of brothers and sisters.
