The Ladies of Charity Association celebrates its 71st anniversary today, November 11th, marking 71 years of service to those most in need. The institution was created from a wish of Blessed Father Eustáquio during his missionary work in Belo Horizonte.
This Friday at 7 PM, a Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated for the anniversary of the Ladies of Charity. The celebration will be broadcast on the Padre Eustáquio Channel on YouTube.
HISTORY
Started by Blessed Father Eustáquio in 1942 in Belo Horizonte, the work of helping the poorest has always been a great concern for the religious man and the entire parish community. Father Eustáquio always helped those most in need with food, work, paying overdue bills, or with his prayers and spiritual guidance.
After her death in 1942, the work continued with community volunteers, who later, in 1956, became the "Ladies of Charity." The families helped by the Ladies are carefully registered. To do this, the volunteers visit the people to find out if they really need help and "what" they need. Currently, there are more than 150 registered families who receive food, medicine, clothing, or other basic necessities monthly.
Food donations are collected from the community, and many people bring donations during celebrations or leave them at the parish office of the Sanctuary. With faith, transparency, and great zeal for the poorest, the Ladies want to help the community more and more, so that we may intensely live the ideal of Father Eustáquio, which is God's purpose for our lives.
