FUN FACT: Father Eustáquio and Father Vítor Coelho actually met!

In 1941, Father Vítor Coelho, a missionary from Aparecida, had been hospitalized at the Divina Providência Sanatorium in Campos do Jordão, São Paulo, for four years.

He was being treated for severe tuberculosis when he received a visit from Father Eustáquio. In a Redemptorist newsletter, Father Júlio Brustoloni recounts this encounter: “As there was no improvement in his health, Father Vítor, with faith and piety, asked Father Eustáquio to bless him, saying: 'Father Eustáquio, the disease is not subsiding, what will become of my life?' and Father Eustáquio's reply was this: 'Rest assured, Father Vítor, you will recover and still work hard for Our Lord,' and he gave him his blessing.‘

The text concludes by saying that after Father Eustáquio's blessing, Father Vítor was not only healed, but restored to health.
