In 2022, the Congregation celebrated 90 years since the arrival of Spanish priests in Brazil.

This year, all of God's people celebrated the 90th anniversary of the arrival of the Spanish priests of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Brazil.

Father José Palomero, provincial of Spain, sent five Spanish priests to Brazil in the first expedition: Father Recaredo Ventosa, Father Nicolás Guardia, Father Miguel de Leão, Father Raimundo Fuente, and Father Teodosio Castilla. They arrived at the port of Rio de Janeiro in 1932.

At the time, Cardinal Leme offered them the Parish of Our Lady of Exile, in Campo Grande-RJ, with the commitment to later give them another in the city, a promise fulfilled in 1934 in the Tijuca neighborhood, where the Church of the Sacred Hearts of Tijuca is located.

Today the Congregation has two Spanish priests working in Brazil, who came years after their predecessors. They are: Father Vicente Hernandéz, 77 years old, and Father Rafael, 93 years old, both currently living at the Province's headquarters in Brazil, in Belo Horizonte-MG.
