With the title of "Sanctuary of Health and Peace," received since 2014, the Mother Church of the Sacred Hearts Parish in Belo Horizonte has been a point of reference during the pandemic, as "Health and Peace" was habitually the greeting of its first parish priest, Blessed Father Eustáquio, and this has been the cry of the world.
The global threat posed by the novel Coronavirus has, from the very beginning, prompted our community to respond to the challenges closest to us. The need to care for at-risk groups led us to suspend "Family Week" around the feast day of Saint Joseph (March 19) and visits to the elderly and sick in the parish.
When in-person celebrations were prohibited, we thought of directing parishioners to Catholic TV networks, but we soon realized that people wanted contact with "their" community, "their" church, "their" priests. We started a service of broadcasts on social media with the daily Eucharist at 6 pm and in the morning a moment of prayer, adoration, or formation in the form of a virtual dialogue. From then on, we felt we were in personal connection with the parishioners and devotees of Father Eustáquio everywhere. (see photos below).
Thus, we continue the mission. From Monday to Friday, at 6 PM and on Sundays, at 10 AM with the celebration of Holy Mass and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 10 AM with moments of conversation, prayer, rosary and adoration, always through the social networks @beatopadreeustaquio and by Padre Eustáquio Channel from YouTube.
