Health and Peace Sanctuary collects donations for victims of the floods.

Clothing, food, cleaning products, and personal hygiene items are being sent to the victims of the rains that have affected Minas Gerais in recent days. The donations were delivered by parishioners and devotees to the parish office after the Sanctuary launched a campaign.

The heavy rains that fell in Minas Gerais at the beginning of the year caused floods and landslides in various parts of the state. In light of the suffering of our brothers and sisters, the parish community of the Sacred Hearts in Belo Horizonte united and launched a campaign, through masses and on the Sanctuary's social media, to collect donations. In the same week the campaign began, hundreds of donations arrived at the church and were sorted to be taken to the affected areas.

A large portion of the food, clothing, hygiene and cleaning supplies was taken by parish staff to the Funil community in the city of Mário Campos. There, the Paraopeba River overflowed, flooding homes and leaving people homeless. The Sanctuary also received monetary donations. This amount was used to purchase basic food baskets and other products that were delivered to other affected communities, mainly those in Araçuaí, in the northeastern region of Minas Gerais.

The fundraising campaign is part of the Solidarity Network of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte. If you still have any donations to make, they can be delivered to the Parish Secretariat of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Office hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. Donations can also be delivered during Mass celebrations at the Sanctuary.
