Deacon Wanderson de Souza Alves, ss.cc., was ordained a priest last Saturday, July 10th. Through the laying on of hands and consecratory prayer of Dom Paulo Alves Romão, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, he became another priest of the Sacred Hearts.

The celebration was attended by brothers and a sister of the Congregation, secular clergy, nuns, seminarians, family members, and a large number of faithful from Patrocínio-MG, Belo Horizonte-MG, Ferraz de Vasconcelos-SP, Vila Prudente-SP, and various parishes in Rio de Janeiro.

During the homily, Bishop Paulo recalled Deacon Wanderson's ordination motto: “"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news."” (Is 61,1), and stressed that the main function of the priest is to announce the Good News, which is Jesus and his Gospel.

After the ordination, Father Wanderson, ss.cc., emotionally thanked his late mother, Sheila, for the support and affection she dedicated to him, as well as the faithful who came from various communities and those who followed through social media.
