The fourth vice-postulator of the Cause for Canonization of Father Eustáquio, Father Lúcio Dumont Prado, sscc, died on the evening of Monday, June 7th. He was at home and suffered a sudden illness at his work desk.
Father Lúcio was born in 1941 in the city of Araxá, Minas Gerais, and in the 1950s he became acquainted with the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, entering the Postulancy in the city of Ferraz de Vasconcelos, São Paulo. At the age of 17, he did his novitiate in the Congregation in Pindamonhangaba, also in the state of São Paulo.
On July 4, 1965, Lúcio was ordained a priest in Belo Horizonte, where he spent most of his pastoral life. Father Lúcio was Provincial Superior of the Sacred Hearts from 2000 to 2006.
After the death of Father Walter Donati in August 1987, Father Lúcio was appointed vice-postulator of the Cause for Canonization of Father Eustáquio. Along with other brothers of the Congregation, Fr. Lúcio worked for the Beatification and helped organize the ceremony held at the Mineirão stadium.
Due to the pandemic, the wake will be held for only a few hours, with health protocols in place, and everything will be streamed online. The burial will be at the Bonfim Cemetery, also without a set time.
