Last week, the nephews of Blessed Father Eustace, Will and Joke van den Boomen, accompanied by the vice-postulator of the Cause of Canonization in Brazil, Father Vinícius Maciel, ss.cc, visited the City Hall of Beek in Donk, Netherlands. The meeting served to strengthen the relationship and to discuss the historical and cultural collection preserved by the family of the Blessed, who is a son of that land.
During the meeting, Mayor Frank van den Meijden and an advisor received the nephews and the Brazilian priest to discuss cultural initiatives for the population centered around the figure of Father Eustáquio. The idea is to introduce citizens, especially children and young people, to a fellow countryman who did extraordinary good, a true hero in Brazilian lands.
The purpose of the meeting was to outline the nephews' desire to create a space or a Reference Center, together with the local parish team, so that the population can learn about and publicize the life and work of Father Eustáquio.
The mayor, who said he knew the Blessed's story and had already visited places of his origin, showed great interest in considering the matter. The meeting generated positive expectations and hope that good results will emerge in the future.
