Padre Eustáquio Church celebrates the day of Our Lady of Fatima.

Padre Eustáquio Church celebrates the day of Our Lady of Fatima.

This Friday, May 13th, the Church throughout the world celebrates the day of Our Lady of Fatima, and Belo Horizonte will be no different. The Sanctuary of Health and Peace has prepared a special celebration for tomorrow evening. The day commemorates the apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal.

At 6 PM there will be the recitation of the Holy Rosary. At 7 PM, Holy Mass will begin, broadcast live on the Padre Eustáquio Channel. During the celebration, there will be the closing of the thirteen-day novena to Our Lady, which has been held at all Masses since May 1st. Immediately after the Eucharistic Celebration, there will be a candlelight procession through the streets of the neighborhood. Devotees can also participate in the food stalls, which will be held at Espaço Molokai and the Community Center, promoted by ECC – Encounter of Couples with Christ.

The Sanctuary invites parishioners and all visitors to this moment of prayer. We ask everyone to bring candles for the candlelight procession.

Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima, or formally Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, is one of the invocations attributed to the Virgin Mary, originating from the apparitions received by three shepherd children in Cova da Iria, Fatima, Portugal.

According to the testimonies of the three visionary children, the first apparition occurred on May 13, 1917, at noon, repeating itself during the following six months always on the 13th and at the same time (except for the month of August, in which it occurred on the 19th), until October 13, 1917.

In her last apparition, she identified herself as "Our Lady of the Rosary," which is why her two titles were ecclesiastically combined, giving rise to... Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima. According to the visionaries' accounts, the message presented by the apparition in Fatima was a persistent appeal for conversion, penance, and prayer, particularly the recitation of the Rosary.

Her main place of devotion is the Sanctuary of Fatima itself, located in the parish and city of the same name, in the municipality of Ourém, Portugal.
