According to accounts in the book "Blessed Eustace" by Lucélia Borges Pereira, former president Juscelino Kubitschek, then mayor of Belo Horizonte, met Father Eustace and, through his blessings, received two graces: one for his wife, who only after Father Eustace's blessing was able to conceive, and the other for himself when he was suffering from a serious throat infection.
These events made JK a great admirer of Father Eustáquio, leading him to donate the land for the construction of the future Sacred Hearts Church in Belo Horizonte, and, after the priest's death, to actively contribute to the beginning of the canonization process.
