The news of the death of Father Lúcio Dumont Prado, sscc, caused an outpouring of grief among parishioners in Belo Horizonte and hundreds of people from various parts of Brazil.
At 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 8th, the priest's body arrived at the Health and Peace Sanctuary in the capital of Minas Gerais, and was received by his brothers in the Congregation, as well as employees and close friends. Due to the pandemic, the wake lasted only two and a half hours, enough time to witness the affection and admiration of those who knew Father Lúcio.
In addition to the religious brothers of the Sacred Hearts, the priest's family also participated in the moments of prayer and farewell at the Sanctuary. Along the central aisle, maintaining all sanitary precautions, people from various places also paid their last respects, with tears and silent prayers. Around 1:30 pm, the church was closed and a funeral mass was celebrated with the presence of friends and family. The ceremony was presided over by Dom Luiz Mancilha, sscc, Archbishop Emeritus of Vitória-ES, and concelebrated by the priests of the Congregation.
All moments were broadcast on the Padre Eustáquio YouTube Channel, allowing people all over Brazil and the world to say their final goodbyes. (Watch the video of the broadcast here) Patients assisted by the TIP Clinic, where Father Lúcio was the spiritual director, expressed their opinions on social media. “"Father Lúcio helped many seminarians, priests and bishops, religious men and women from all over Brazil, by attending to everyone who went to ADI."”, "Amilton Senna wrote on YouTube. The official profile of CAPE – Casa de Acolhida Padre Eustáquio posted:" “"Your love and dedication to our home and our children will be remembered forever!"”

From those who knew him closely, countless tributes kept pouring in: “"I haven't drunk for 19 years... through Father Lúcio I was brought back to Catholicism and total devotion to Father Eustáquio."” commented @sclessa

To Father Lucio, our eternal gratitude for comforting so many hearts here on earth and for helping to lead Father Eustace to the title of Blessed. May he be living in the Glory of God alongside the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
