Carlo Acutis: The Blessed 'Millennial' will be canonized by Pope Francis.

Last month, the Catholic Church recognized the second miracle attributed to the Italian Blessed Carlo Acutis, who healed a young woman from Costa Rica after an accident. This recognition will lead to Acutis's canonization by the Catholic Church. Known as the "patron saint of the internet," Carlo Acutis was a teenager who used the web to evangelize and inspire the faithful. He died in 2006 at the age of 15, but his influence continues to grow.

Miracle in Costa Rica

The second miracle attributed to Carlo Acutis occurred in 2022, when he healed Valeria, a young woman from Costa Rica, after a serious bicycle accident. With little chance of survival, Valeria was miraculously cured days after her mother prayed at Acutis' tomb in Assisi, Italy. This extraordinary event led Pope Francis to officially recognize the miracle.

Carlo Acutis was beatified in 2020 after the recognition of his first miracle. In 2010, a child in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, touched a relic of Acutis and was cured of a serious health condition. The boy, who suffered from a pancreatic problem, recovered completely after touching Carlo Acutis's vestment during a mass.

Who was Carlo Acutis?

Born in London on May 3, 1991, Carlo Acutis spent most of his life in Milan, Italy. From an early age, he demonstrated a deep religious devotion, attending Mass daily and dedicating himself to the rosary and Eucharistic adoration. In addition to his faith, Acutis was passionate about technology and possessed an advanced knowledge of computer science for his age.

He combined these two passions by creating a website that cataloged miracles and promoted digital evangelization. His skill and dedication to faith and technology earned him the title of "patron saint of the internet." According to his mother, Antonia Acutis, Carlo used his gifts to help others and inspire his friends and acquaintances.

Carlo Acutis was diagnosed with leukemia and died on October 12, 2006, the day of Our Lady of Aparecida, patron saint of Brazil.

*In April 2023, the vice-postulator of the Cause of Canonization of Blessed Father Eustáquio, Father Vinícius Maciel, ss.cc, visited the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis in Assisi (Italy). There, Fr. Vinicius prayed for young people and teenagers so that they might be inspired by the example of the future saint.
