Since Pope Saint John Paul II, on April 12, 2003, recognized the heroic virtues of Father Eustáquio, inscribing his name on the list of Venerable Servants of God, the beatification process has taken a new step, that of presenting a miracle so that he could be recognized by the Church and declared Blessed by the Holy See.
Then came the surprising cure of a cancer through the intercession of Father Eustáquio for the benefit of Father Gonçalo Belém, from Belo Horizonte, which was scientifically proven. See the account by Cardinal Serafim Fernandes de Araújo, Archbishop Emeritus of Belo Horizonte/MG:
“One Thursday morning, Father Gonçalo Belém Rocha asked Dom João and me to receive him. He was saying goodbye to us, as he had been diagnosed with throat cancer. We were distraught. Father Belém wept, and we both wept with our friend and son. That's how we said goodbye. Dom João looked at me, I looked at Dom João, and an inspiration came to me. I said: ‘Dom João, let's go up to the Chapel and expressly and fervently ask God that, through the intercession of Father Eustáquio, He may cure Father Belém.’ We spent a few minutes praying. And we placed that priest in the hands of Father Eustáquio, whose canonization process we had recently begun. During the operation on Monday, something unthinkable had happened. The doctors looked at each other, but the X-ray confirmed ‘there was nothing to be removed’ – someone had arrived first!… Father Belém lived for another 50 years. A saint is a saint, a whirlwind of God.” that no one holds.”
Because of this, on June 15, 2006, the solemn Beatification took place in Mineirão. The public recognition of a heroic life of virtue and service.
On the feast of Corpus Christi, the Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, welcomed a crowd of faithful from the parishes of Belo Horizonte and other cities. There were more than 80,000 people taking part in the 12th “Torcida de Deus”.
The Holy Mass was presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Belo Horizonte, Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo, who highlighted the figure of Blessed Father Eustáquio during his homily.

Present were the new Blessed's relatives from Holland, the Sisters and Brothers (religious, priests and bishops) of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts from more than twenty countries, Father Gonçalo Belém and Cardinal Serafim Fernandes de Araújo, a great devotee, who together with João de Rezende Costa had entrusted Father Belém's cure to Father Eustáquio's intercession.
Gonçalo Belém Rocha was born in Contagem, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and was ordained in the 1950s. At the age of 39, he was surprised by laryngeal cancer. The doctors diagnosed a very delicate condition, accompanied by hoarseness and inflammation of the throat. Surgery would be the only way to successfully cure him. On the eve of the surgery, the doctors, while carrying out the final pre-op examinations, noticed that Belém's throat was healthy.
Father Gonçalo Belém lived on for 45 years after his cure. His career was marked by charity, love for others and 57 years of dedication to the Church. He died on December 6, 2007, at the age of 83, in the Vila da Serra hospital in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, where he had been in the ICU for five months.
The cause of death was multiple organ failure. Pastor emeritus of the parish of São Pedro Apóstolo, in the Floresta neighborhood, also in Belo Horizonte, Father Belém died wondering why had he been graced by God, by intercession of Father Eustáquio. In a 2006 article in the newspaper Estado de Minas, Father Belém spoke during Father Eustáquio's beatification in Mineirão:
