The year 2022 is ending, and we prepare to enter 2023 with renewed hope in God. All the difficulties and challenges we experienced in the year that is ending should serve as lessons for a better future.

And to start 2023 off right, we've compiled 10 principles left by Father Eustáquio for a better life in Christ:

1 – Always turn to the kind Sacred Heart of Jesus as a source of strength and courage to face adversity and achieve what we need.

“"Heart of Jesus, our comfort in afflictions, remedy in illnesses, relief from all miseries, hear our prayers. Heart of Jesus, who does not like to punish, but rather to forgive, deliver us from the evils that discourage us, help and heal our sick."”

2 – Always put your trust in the goodness of the Lord.

“"The heart of Jesus is immense, and his goodness penetrates every corner, more than the light and heat of the sun."”

3 – Accept with wisdom the struggles that will arise throughout the year.

“"The struggle is not always pleasant, but it is necessary for sanctification. Always maintain good will, and thus the grace of perseverance will not fail us."”

4 – Serve the Lord in everything you do.

“"Blessed is the man who knows how to use his strength and possessions for the glory of God and the praise of his saints."”

5 – Monitor your actions and thoughts.

“Is it not penance to remain silent when one wants to speak ill? Is it not penance to push away thoughts that please our hearts but displease God? Is it not penance to abstain from something that does not harm us? Christians, do not wish to be more than your Master, who did not rest in his joyful penances.”

6 – Don't murmur or complain about everything that happens in your life.

“If you want peace in your heart: do not lament any evil, not even the state of the weather. Do not judge things you do not know. Do not compare your fate with that of your neighbor. Do not wish that this or that were different from what it is. Do not think about the things of tomorrow, nor about the things that are sometimes difficult. Always think, God will provide.”

7 – Let go of the illusions of the world.

8 - Trust in God's will.

9 - Seek comfort in the Father.

“Give your life, with all your worries, to the Divine Master, and you will lack neither comfort nor strength.” (…) “Oh, my Jesus, may Your heart be for me a refuge, a hiding place against the storms of the world.”

10 – Have God in your life every day of the coming year.

“"Oh, Jesus, I want to live with you, to live forever. Rich heart of Jesus, have mercy on my poor heart. Jesus, save me."”
