At the Alberto Cavalcanti Hospital, formerly the Minas Gerais Sanatorium, the room where Father Eustáquio died on August 30, 1943, has been preserved. Photos of the Blessed Father adorn the walls, along with photographs of devotees who leave their offerings of gratitude for graces received through his intercession.

It was in this room that Father Eustáquio spent his last days. The room retains many of the things he left behind: a small, somewhat rusty iron bed, a straw mattress, a picture of the Blessed One, and a prayer for the sick. Some antique porcelain and a wall-mounted sink, where, according to accounts, Father Eustáquio kept his holy water, also remain in the small room.
The place, which has become a point of devotion to the Dutch priest, especially for hospital staff, seeks to preserve the simplicity lived by Father Eustáquio. Traditionally, for years, doctors and nurses have stopped by the place for a prayer before starting their workday.
