More than 70 years after the mortal remains of Father Eustáquio were removed from the Bonfim Cemetery, the tomb where the Blessed was buried continues to be one of the most visited in the area. The Blessed was buried in August 1943 and his body was transferred from the cemetery in 1949 to the current Sanctuary of Health and Peace.
From the day the Blessed One was buried in the Bonfim Cemetery, the place became a space of prayer for the faithful of Father Eustáquio. Many visited the site asking for the priest's intercession for their problems and afflictions.
The transfer of the Blessed One's body to the Sanctuary of Health and Peace did not end the visits of devotees to the Bonfim Cemetery. The Blessed One's tomb continues to be one of the most visited in the place, along with the tombs of Sister Benigna and the girl Marlene.
Upon being removed from the Cemetery, the mortal remains were deposited inside the Sanctuary of Health and Peace, Church of Blessed Father Eustace, where they remained until 2007 when they were transferred to the Father Eustace Memorial, attached to the Church.
