Alcides Raimundo dos Santos was born on August 31, 1935, in Glaura, a district of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, the same place where he was baptized. While still young, he moved to Belo Horizonte and at the age of 21 entered the novitiate of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo.
He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1963, in Ferraz de Vasconcelos, São Paulo. Immediately after his ordination, he became Chaplain of the São Rafael Institute (for the blind) in Belo Horizonte, and two years later he went to Formosa, Goiás, where he was Rector of the Seminary, Bursar, and responsible for Rural Pastoral Care. In February 1979, he went to Belo Horizonte where he worked as Parochial Vicar of the Santa Margarida Maria Alacoque Parish and, from 1994, parish priest of the São Damiao de Molokai and Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Soccoro Parish, also in Belo Horizonte. Becoming parish priest emeritus, even after the age of 80, he carried out a great apostolate through social media and as a remote counselor to many priests. In recent years he resided in the community of the Provincial House in Padre Eustáquio.
