A photograph of the ship on which Father Eustáquio came to Brazil along with his mission companions, Father Gil and Father Mathias, was found by the team cataloging the Blessed's belongings. The engraving shows the ship Flandria on which the Blessed embarked on April 22, 1925, from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Brazilian lands.
The three priests came to Brazil to answer a call from the local church, which relied on European priests to serve the Catholic population. As a result, they also founded the Province of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in the country. Eustáquio, Mathias, and Gil disembarked in Rio de Janeiro on May 12, 1925, after a 21-day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
After spending a few days in Rio de Janeiro, Father Eustáquio and his mission companions went to Aparecida, São Paulo, to consecrate the mission to Our Lady, and only after that did they begin to settle in the cities that at that time belonged to the Diocese of Uberaba, in the Triângulo Mineiro region.
