Brother Francisco Gleison Oliveira, ss.cc., was ordained a priest of the Church last Saturday, May 21st. The ordination ceremony was performed by Dom José Luiz Gomes de Vasconcelos, diocesan bishop of Sobral-CE, at the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Conception, in Bela Cruz, a city in Ceará.

The ordination rite was celebrated in Gleison's hometown alongside friends and family. Many brothers from the Congregation were also present at the ceremony. Those who could not attend followed the celebration on the Padre Eustáquio Channel on YouTube (review here).

Father Osvânio Mariano, ss.cc., provincial of the Sacred Hearts in Brazil and the Paraguay region, presented the candidate for priesthood, who was ordained by Bishop Luiz with the laying on of hands on the head of the ordinand and the specific consecratory prayer, which asks God for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and his gifts appropriate to the ministry for which Gleison was ordained.

Now known as Father Gleison, the young man from Ceará returns to his religious community in Patrocínio-MG to continue carrying out his mission.

Francisco Gleison Oliveira was born in Bela Cruz (Ceará), on May 22, 1988. Son of Francisco Cleiton Oliveira and Maria de Fátima Morais, he joined the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in 2014. He completed his Theology studies in 2016 at the Jesuit Faculty and did his novitiate in 2017 in Chaclacayo – Peru, professing his first vows on January 27, 2018, in the chapel of Casa Anchieta in Boracéia-SP.

In 2019 he was sent to the community of Catuji, Minas Gerais, working pastorally in the Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel. He made his Perpetual Profession on January 16, 2021.review here) at the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in Belo Horizonte and in July of the same year was appointed to the community of Patrocínio-MG. On October 2021 he was ordained a Deacon (review here) at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, in Patrocínio, by the hands of Dom Luiz Mancilha Vilela, ss.cc., Archbishop Emeritus of Vitória-ES.
