Congregation of the Sacred Hearts takes over parishes in the Jequitinhonha Valley in Minas Gerais.

Since last weekend, brothers and sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts have been working with the Catholic community in two cities in the Jequitinhonha Valley, in northeastern Minas Gerais. Parishes in Pedra Azul and Divisa Alegre welcomed the presence of the brothers and sisters.

The installation took place on Sunday, February 6th. The provincial superior, Fr. Osvânio Humberto Mariano, attended the ceremony, presided over by the diocesan bishop of Araçuaí, Dom Esmeraldo Barreto de Farias. The holy mass was held at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição parish church. Three priests of the Sacred Hearts will carry out pastoral work there: Father Élcio Mota, Father Jorge Oliveira, and Father Paulo Roberto Teixeira.

In addition to the priests, the nuns will also take on pastoral work in the city of Divisa Alegre. Sister Valéria Gomes and Sister Marilene de Souza have also taken office in the parish and will now walk alongside the people of those communities.
