The Church teaches that Advent has a twofold character: it is a time of preparation for the solemnities of Christmas, in which the first coming of the Son of God among men is commemorated. It is also a time when, through this remembrance, hearts are turned to the expectation of the second coming of Christ at the end of time. For this twofold reason, Advent presents itself as a time of devout and joyful expectation (cf. NALC, n. 39).
At the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Health and Peace, the schedules have been changed to increase the number of in-person celebrations and the performance of sacraments such as Marriages and Baptisms.
