The symbolism of the Advent Wreath

Christmas is full of meaning and symbolism, and one of the main symbols of this time of year is the Advent wreath.

The Advent wreath symbolizes the eternity of God, who has no beginning and no end, hence its circular shape. It is adorned with green branches, which symbolize the continuity of life and hope.

The Advent wreath, remembered as the first announcement of Christmas, has four candles, which can be of various colors or traditionally three purple and one pink. The candles should be lit one each Sunday of Advent. Their light symbolizes our faith and the manifestations of Christ.
