Father Eustáquio in BH – mission and burial

Welcomed by Archbishop Antônio Cabral, he arrived in Belo Horizonte on April 7, 1942. In May 1943, he presented the community with a model of the future Sacred Hearts Church. It was only 16 months of intense apostolate, starting from the Christ the King chapel, in the old parish of São Domingos, the future Sacred Hearts parish.

In August 1943, a sudden high fever interrupted this intense apostolate for a week. On August 30 of that year, Father Eustáquio died, a victim of typhus or spotted fever, also called tick fever. His burial marked the beginning of a history of devotion and recognition by the People of God.
