The researchers' work occupies one of the halls of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in Belo Horizonte.

The items that belonged to the Blessed One are being treated and cataloged. These are objects displayed in the small museum set up inside the Sanctuary of Health and Peace, and other belongings of Father Eustáquio, kept over the years under the responsibility of the Vice Postulation of the Cause in Brazil.

Notebooks and the Bible used by Father Eustáquio are among the objects.

Two professionals specializing in the Conservation and Restoration of Movable Goods are working on the collection. In January alone, 94 objects were cleaned and documented, including 66 pieces of clothing.

Cybele Nascimento Silva, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Conservation and Restoration of Movable Goods from UFMG and is currently pursuing a degree in Museology at UFOP, is one of the researchers carrying out the work. Cybele explains that she learned about the collection through a university colleague and decided to register the project under the Aldir Blanc Law. Once approved, they began work on January 12th.

Marcelino Lopes is the other professional working on the project. Holding a Bachelor's degree in History from PUC Minas and a degree in Conservatorship and Restoration of Movable Goods from UFMG, he takes each piece, cleans it, researches all the information about it, photographs it, and then stores it in a way that preserves the object for as long as possible.

Among the items are: books, notebooks with notes made by the priest, letters he received, various pieces of clothing, newspaper clippings that mentioned Father Eustáquio at the time, as well as sacred objects for the Blessed One's personal use.

According to the vice-postulator of the Cause of Canonization, Father Vinícius Maciel, ss.cc., the work is very important to fulfill our mission of transmitting to future generations the memory and message of Father Eustáquio: “It is also very important to take care of his belongings which, in addition to their historical value, have great spiritual value, considered as relics because they belonged to a Blessed,” concluded the religious.

All items, after being cleaned and cataloged, are stored to prevent deterioration.

The entire project aims at the recovery and conservation of the collection, as well as the research and verification that the items truly belonged to Father Eustáquio. Everything will be classified to guarantee future access, exhibition, and communication.

However, since the project under the Aldir Blanc Law ends in March, the vice-presidential campaign is undertaking fundraising efforts to help support the professionals until the entire collection is cataloged. If you would like to help, simply... CLICK HERE.

The idea is to use all the materials to assemble the large Padre Eustáquio Museum, next to the church. The location already exists and so does the project, but it needs adaptations and renovations to become a cultural space. The actions also have the support of the community.
