The Padre Eustáquio Museum, in Poá, in the greater São Paulo area, will begin emergency repairs to the building's roof to stop leaks and seepage. This measure is necessary due to the recent rains, which have worsened the condition of the rooms housing the museum's collection.
All services will be performed by a specialized company, contracted with public funds resulting from the approval of a project submitted to the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Poá for the receipt of emergency cultural aid, through Federal Law No. 14.017 – Aldir Blanc Law – item II. This resource will be fundamental for the maintenance of the collection of the first vicar of Poá. The Padre Eustáquio Museum was awarded R$ 6,000 for this purpose.
The funds were deposited at the end of December last year by the Municipality of Poá and are part of the Municipal Culture Fund. In January and early February, several companies were consulted to conduct a technical inspection of the site in order to identify problems with the building's roof, the condition of the tiles, battens, ridge tiles, gutters and ceilings, the need to replace damaged material, the waterproofing of the building's entrance slab, and to prepare budgets (see section...). Transparency (on the Museum's website). The repair work should begin this week. Public access remains suspended due to the pandemic.
