It was on January 31, 1949, with the completion of the new Sacred Hearts church, designed by Father Eustáquio himself, that his mortal remains were transferred from the Bonfim Cemetery to the new church.
During the construction of the temple, a space right at the entrance of the church was reserved to receive the mortal remains of the priest. Days before the transfer of the bones, a commission with priests from the Congregation and experts went to the Bonfim Cemetery to open the tomb and perform the exhumation. Everything was recorded by the press at the time.
Then, on the 31st, the relics of the Blessed One were taken to the new Sacred Hearts Parish Church. There was a moment of prayer with the participation of two of Father Eustáquio's brothers, who came from Holland to accompany the entire process. Following this, the box containing the mortal remains was placed there, remaining until 2007 when the new Memorial was built, attached to the church.
