Last weekend was marked by the return of in-person masses at the "Health and Peace" Sanctuary, Father Eustáquio's church, in Belo Horizonte. Many devotees participated in the four celebrations with the congregation present, some even becoming emotional.
At the church entrance, accessible only through the side gate, each person arriving presented their card (obtained in advance from the parish office during the week), had their temperature checked, and their feet sanitized by walking across a mat soaked in bleach. They were then invited to sanitize their hands with hand sanitizer and to sit in one of the 160 available seats, which had been previously disinfected by Sanctuary staff.
Wearing masks, the faithful prayed, sang, and praised God for that moment and for the requests each one carried in their heart. At the moment of communion, the priest and ministers went to the people, avoiding movement and crowds. At that moment, many were moved! After all, it had been almost six months away from in-person celebrations.
At the end of each service, the pews were sanitized for subsequent masses. Those who could not attend, due to belonging to a high-risk group, followed the broadcast on social media.
During the week, masses will continue to be held only through the internet. Padre Eustáquio Channel, from YouTube. Starting Wednesday, registration for in-person masses next weekend will be available.
