The Sanctuary team participates in the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Last Friday, December 6th, parishioners from the Sanctuary of Health and Peace participated in the commemorative ceremonies for the Day of the Immaculate Conception, at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Conception of the Poor, in Lagoinha, Belo Horizonte.

The holy mass was presided over by Father Sérgio Stein, ss.cc, assisted by extraordinary ministers of communion, a choir, a psalmist, a proclaimer, and a reader, all from the Health and Peace Sanctuary. The team was received by the rector of that sanctuary, Father Roberto Rubens da Silva, and by the parishioners who welcomed everyone with great affection.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception in Belo Horizonte

On the evening of Sunday the 8th, Archbishop Dom Walmor presided over the Eucharist. In a special moment during the Mass, the Archbishop presented to the faithful the renewed Evangelization Project "Proclaim the Word," a result of the VI Assembly of the People of God. Click here to learn more.

Dom Walmor reflected on the significance of this important Marian date for the Church, noting that it is also the Second Sunday of Advent: “We are walking and preparing to celebrate the Lord's Christmas. A journey enriched by the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which recalls a very important truth of our Catholic Christian faith. Our Lady, beloved daughter of God the Father, mother of Jesus Christ the Savior, spouse of the Holy Spirit, was preserved from all sin. This should rekindle great joy in us. We do not walk alone.”.

The Archbishop also presented the document that brings together the new guidelines for evangelizing action in the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, built from the participation of the entire archdiocesan community, especially the faithful, in the 6th Assembly of the People of God (APD). “We chose today, the day we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, to present our 'Proclaim the Word' Project. A concise project that, when put into practice, will be a great missionary resource. We are opening a new missionary cycle.”.

At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, the faithful went out in procession around the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Conception of the Poor, walking through the streets of the Lagoinha neighborhood.
