Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, you who once showed immense compassion for the people, seeing them as a flock without direction, sent us your servant and friend Father Eustáquio to guide your children. We thank you for this.

He understood your example of total love for the Father and for his brothers and sisters, he heard your call and carried it out with generosity.

Lord, we also thank you because you made him a priest and a missionary, a son of the Sacred Hearts, distinguished by his dedication to celebrating the sacraments, his patience in spiritual counseling and his compassion for the suffering and the afflicted.

For this reason, in accordance with your will, we make a plea for the priests, the religious, the missionaries and the lay people working in our communities, that they may be holy, faithful and numerous. Furthermore, Lord, we humbly and confidently ask you to glorify your servant Father Eustáquio, giving your Church, and especially the Church of Brazil, the joy of officially invoking him as a saint.

Oh, Good Shepherd, may not the abundance of your mercy stop at that, but grant also that our lives be animated by a great love toward you and toward our brothers, like it was in Father Eustáquio's life, who once said: "Gaining sould, relieving pain and suffering: this is my great God-inspired ideal."

Let it be so.
