Novena to the Blessed Father Eustáquio

Novena to the Blessed Father Eustáquio

OPENING PRAYER FOR EACH DAY

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Kindly Father Eustáquio, great friend and benefactor of suffering souls, through your intercession, please grant me the grace I so desperately long for:

(make your request)

I renew my baptismal commitments to live as a good Christian. I promise to pray and collaborate so that you will soon be recognized as a Saint for the greater honor and glory of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of the Holy Church.

Amen!

FIRST DAY

Father Eustáquio and the virtue of Faith

Father Eustáquio edified everyone with his profound piety. His faith was firm and unshakeable, even in life's tribulations and difficulties. He used to say: “It always comes to my lips: how great God is! But indeed every day I notice more and more how short-sighted we are to God's greatness.” And he advised: “Let nothing disturb you, let nothing distress you, let nothing frighten you! Everything passes, pain and joy! Only God remains. Eternally!”

PRAYER

Grant me, Father Eustáquio, the grace of a lively and generous faith in the mysteries of God, in revealed truths and in divine goodness and providence. May my faith be like yours, unshakeable, especially in the difficulties and sufferings of life. Amen. Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be; Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

SECOND DAY

Father Eustáquio and the virtue of hope

Father Eustáquio saw the hand of Divine Providence in everything and allowed himself to be guided by it, entrusting himself to the Heavenly Father with boundless trust, in the certainty of obtaining the indispensable means and graces for his needs on earth and for his happiness in heaven. In his priestly ministry, he always said: “God is a very good Father. Our Lord knows everything, foresees everything, directs everything and governs everything. Trust in God, he will provide”.

PRAYER

Grant me, kind Father Eustace, the grace to abandon myself in all things to the divine will, trusting in His infinite goodness. Help me to better understand the need for confident prayer. Amen. Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory be; Blessed Father Eustace, pray for us!

THIRD DAY

Father Eustáquio and the Love of God

With his consistently elevated thought, Father Eustáquio's soul was constantly united to God. In his life of prayer, in his words full of devotion, in his apostolate of charity, he always lived for God. He practiced what he wrote: “Oh, my Jesus, I love you. I love you with your cross, with your suffering, with your immense Love.”

PRAYER

My great protector, Father Eustáquio, help me to put the commandment of love into practice, so that my soul may always be united with God by sanctifying grace and that the love that comes from Him may inspire all the actions of my daily life. Amen. Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be; Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

FOURTH DAY

Father Eustáquio and charity

Father Eustáquio's whole life was filled with love for his neighbor, especially the poor, the sick, the sinful and the less fortunate. He gave them everything he could: advice, comfort, money, food, clothes and medicine. He also looked for work for the unemployed. He was fatherlike, a friend, a nurse, a counselor and a shepherd. In short: he was a benefactor to all, a true angel of charity.

PRAYER

Grant me, kindly Father Eustáquio, the great grace of contemplating the image of Jesus in my neighbor, so that, inspired by his edifying example, I may practice the works of Christian charity for the benefit of those whom Divine Providence places in my path. Amen. Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be; Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

FIFTH DAY

Father Eustace and the virtue of prudence

Father Eustáquio's only real concern in life was his constant union with God. He avoided everything that could give rise to sin: idleness, complacency, useless conversations or vain literature. In times of trouble, he always asked the Holy Spirit for light. As a zealous priest and a much sought-after confessor, he advised with very prudent and therefore very correct decisions.

PRAYER
Through your powerful intercession, Father Eustáquio, grant me the virtue of Christian prudence, so that I may always try to do what is right in God's eyes and what is beneficial to those who live alongside me. Amen.

Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be;
Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

SIXTH DAY

Father Eustáquio and the virtue of justice

Everyone considered Father Eustáquio to be a fair man. He always defended the rights of the underprivileged. He didn't allow people to be pre-judged in the fulfillment of their duties and in the practice of Christian charity. When justice required him to act with a certain rigor, he always did so with due moderation, targeting the wrongdoing rather than the person at fault.

PRAYER
Kindly Father Eustáquio, grant me, through your example and intercession, the grace of being just and living as a good Christian. May my self-love never make me do injustice to anyone. Amen.

Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be;
Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

SEVENTH DAY

Father Eustáquio and the virtue of fortitude

There was no shortage of obstacles and suffering in Father Eustáquio's life. During his time at the seminary, because of his studies; as a priest, because of the sacrificing transfers and even because of his painful illness and, humanly speaking, premature death. But all this he accepted with courage and submission, clearly demonstrating his great fortitude of soul.

PRAYER
Grant me, my friend Father Eustáquio, through your intercession with God, the fortitude of soul and courage to face the difficulties of life and to carry the burdens with generous submission to God's will. Amen.

Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be;
Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

EIGHTH DAY

Father Eustáquio and the virtue of temperance

Through his vows, Father Eustáquio consecrated himself completely to the service of God and of souls. He avoided everything that could even slightly jeopardize his priesthood. By practicing temperance, he managed to completely dominate his nature. He was sober in his eating, had no attachment to anything and gave up private gifts with great generosity for the benefit of others, especially the poor.

PRAYER
Through your example and intercession, Father Eustáquio, grant me the practice of temperance. Help me not to be selfish and complacent in everything. May I understand the value of mortification and practice it generously in the daily struggle of life. Amen

Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be;
Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!

NINTH DAY

Father Eustáquio and the Eucharist

As a young man, Father Eustáquio would walk very early in the morning for more than an hour to attend Mass and receive Communion. As a religious of the Sacred Hearts and Perpetual Adoration, he gathered daily before the Blessed Sacrament. As a priest, he tried to live and lead the faithful to center their whole lives on the Eucharist.

PRAYER
My great benefactor, Father Eustáquio, inspire in me your love of the Holy Eucharist, which nourished you every day and gave you so much strength in your apostolate. I beg you to grant me the desire for the Eucharistic Bread, which is offered to us daily at Mass, and that my adoration may make me an intercessor for humanity. Amen

Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be;
Blessed Father Eustáquio, pray for us!
