The Auxiliary Bishop of Belo Horizonte and Rector of PUC Minas, Dom Joaquim Giovani Mol Guimarães, visited the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in the capital of Minas Gerais. During his visit, the bishop presided over a celebration at the Sanctuary and, immediately afterwards, visited the Padre Eustáquio Memorial, where the relics of the Blessed Father Eustáquio are kept. Dom Joaquim demonstrated his deep affection and admiration for Blessed Father Eustáquio and even took a photo holding an image of the Dutch priest.
DOM JOAQUIM MOL
Dom Joaquim Giovani Mol Guimarães was born in Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais, on January 6, 1960. He is currently an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, and President of the Episcopal Pastoral Commission for Culture and Education of the CNBB (National Conference of Bishops of Brazil).
The son of José Mol Guimarães and Edna Mol Guimarães, the second of seven siblings, he entered the novitiate of the Salesian Congregation in 1979 in Barbacena, and made his religious profession in January 1980. Until 1982 he studied for a degree in Philosophy at PUC-MG. In 1983 and 1984, he lived at the Dom Bosco College in Araxá and at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Goiânia. In 1985 he began his studies in Theology, which he also pursued at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, completing them in 1988. He was ordained a deacon at the end of 1987 by Bishop João Resende Costa at the Cristo Luz dos Povos Parish in Belo Horizonte, and received priestly ordination on July 16, 1988, by Bishop Irineu Danelon in Ponte Nova.
On February 11, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him titular bishop of Galtelli and auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte. He was ordained a bishop on March 25 of the same year by Dom Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo.
