On May 12, 1925, accompanied by the provincial priest, Fr. Norberto, SS.CC, the first three priests of the Sacred Hearts set foot on Brazilian soil. Fr. Eustáquio, Fr. Gil, and Fr. Mathias arrived at the port of Rio de Janeiro on the ship Flandria. They crossed the Atlantic after a 21-day voyage.
Received in Rio de Janeiro, the priests remained in the city until they were assigned to pastoral work in the Triângulo Mineiro region. Before going to Araguari-MG, the three missionaries went to Aparecida-SP to entrust the mission in Brazil to the patron saint, Our Lady of Aparecida. They were received by the Redemptorists who recorded the visit in the register of the National Shrine.
