The image of Blessed Father Eustáquio can be seen by those attending the opera "Devotion." The performance, which touches on the devotional spirit of Minas Gerais, portrays the construction of the Sanctuary of Congonhas and addresses themes such as dreams, Minas Gerais identity, the Gold Cycle, and the influence of immigrants.
For the devotees of Father Eustáquio who were present, this was a wonderful surprise. The icon, displayed in the scene, shows the presence of the Blessed not only as a religious symbol, but also as part of the history of Minas Gerais.
About the opera "Devotion"“
The opera “Devotion” is a project of the Clóvis Salgado Foundation (FCS) that brings together all the artistic bodies of the institution. The performance takes place at the Grande Teatro Cemig Palácio das Artes. The opera stars tenor Matheus Pompeu as Feliciano and soprano Carla Caramujo as Mercês, a fictional character. The production highlights the rich cultural heritage of Minas Gerais through music, dance, and poetry, and features a cast of 150 artists, including five guest singers, choristers from the Minas Gerais Lyric Choir, dancers from the Palácio das Artes Dance Company, and 70 musicians from the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra. In total, approximately 600 professionals are involved in the project, with over 250 costumes and four different sets.
