Father Eustáquio left many teachings in his writings, showing paths we should follow, always based on the Word of God and love for Jesus and Our Lady.
One of these writings, very relevant to the period we are living through, Lent, speaks about fasting. The Church invites us to fast and do penance during this 40-day period of preparation for the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And Father Eustáquio offers a beautiful reflection on a different way of experiencing these practices.
“We must not think for a moment that penance can only be done physically. We can also do it spiritually. Isn’t keeping silent when you want to speak penance?”.
Father Eustáquio then adds the phrase:
“"Isn't speaking well when you want to speak ill a penance? Isn't pushing away a thought that pleases our heart but displeases God a penance?"”
This is Father Eustace's call for us to fully experience the Lenten season.
