Deacon Wanderson de Souza Alves, ss.cc., will be ordained a priest on the morning of next Saturday, June 10th. The Holy Mass with the rite of priestly ordination will begin at 10:00 AM and will be presided over by Dom Paulo Alves Romão, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro.
The ceremony will be held at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish, where Deacon Wanderson was born and spent his childhood in Rio de Janeiro. The parish is located at Avenida Bacaxá, lote 03, quadra 64, in the Santa Margarida neighborhood, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. After his ordination, Father Wanderson will celebrate his first Mass at 11:00 AM the following day (June 11th) at the Nossa Senhora do Desterro Parish in Campo Grande, also in Rio de Janeiro. On the same day (June 11th), Wanderson will also celebrate Mass at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish, the location of his ordination, at 6:00 PM.

Wanderson de Souza Alves was born in Rio de Janeiro on April 14, 1993. He is the son of Francisco Carlos Alves and Sheila Gama de Souza Alves (deceased). He entered the Congregation in 2012. He completed his novitiate in 2015 in Cerrillos de Curacavi, Chile, and professed his first vows on January 17, 2016, at the Nossa Senhora do Desterro Parish in Campo Grande, Rio de Janeiro. In 2019, he began residing in the religious community of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in Belo Horizonte, where he served pastorally until 2022.
He made his Perpetual Profession on January 16, 2021, also in Belo Horizonte. He completed his Theology studies in 2021 at the Jesuit Faculty and was ordained a Deacon on August 29, 2022. Since then, he has been exercising his diaconate in the city of Patrocínio-MG, at the São Damião de Molokai Parish.
