This weekend, Father Vinícius Maciel, SSCC, vice-postulator responsible in Brazil for the canonization of Father Eustáquio, was at the General House of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in Rome, Italy. The priest, who is also rector of the Sanctuary of Health and Peace in Belo Horizonte, conducted research in the Congregation's general archive.
Father Vinicius, SSCC, had access to the historical documents related to the process from the beginning, in 1956. Letters and manuscripts of the Blessed were also consulted by the priest, who conducted a general search of the data and information contained in the papers.
The work on site was supported by the Congregation's general archivist, Father Eric Hernout, SSCC. The material will serve as a supplement to the current phase of the process, which awaits a miracle to be approved by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints in the Vatican.
